We delight in the Word which God so graciously gave us. We consider the preaching and teaching of the Bible to be of the utmost value in learning more about our Creator so that we can serve Him better. We also delight in close fellowship among members of our local assembly as a means of Christian encouragement and accountability.
"I don't know how much I have to offer to the Lord, but let me admonish you to listen to me about man's relationship with God. If Jesus Christ is not your Lord and Master, you and you alone are responsible for your sins. This means that if you die and you have no Savior to cleanse you from your sins, you will pay for your sins for all of eternity. Also, you won't be able to pay them off or satisfy God's just demands against you as a sinner. Remember, God sent His Son into the world to save sinners, and anyone that rejects such a sacrifice deserves the eternal damnation that God declared in His holy scriptures. The Apostle John wrote, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, "the wrath of God abides on them that believe not." I beg you, dear reader, to confess your sinfulness and throw yourself on the mercy of God. God is good, and He is so patient with us, but we know not when that moment will come and life on this earth for us will end. My desire is that you will be in heaven with me and enjoy the rivers of God's pleasures."

First Baptist Church of Chapmanville is an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church. What does this mean? "Independent" means that our local church does not belong to any convention, council, or organization of churches. We maintain complete authority over the functioning of this local assembly. "Fundamental" means that our church takes the entirety of the Bible as truth and abides by the fundamental teachings of Christianity.
Our pastor uses a type of preaching called "Expositional." This means that he preaches verse by verse, chapter by chapter, through the Bible. Each section of scripture is studied thoroughly so that we may come to a fuller understanding of the total Word of God.
This is different from topical preaching, which is preaching on a specific topic and pulling in specific sections of the Bible to support the topic.
The church is very important. It is the body of Christ in this world today. It exists as an oasis in a sinful world to believers so that they can be reminded and refreshed regularly of Biblical truth in order to continue to be salt and light in a lost world. The Bible admonishes all believers to not forsake the assembling of ourselves with each other. This admonition is for our own good. God knows that we need the regular encouragement and accountability that we can only derive from a body of believers, i.e. the church.
First Baptist Church of Chapmanville sings old and new hymns directly from the hymnal to the accompaniment of a piano.
We believe what the Bible says. The pastor prepares each sermon with extensive study, relying heavily on cross-scriptural evidence -- scripture affirming scripture. He also studies the original Greek and Hebrew in order to clarify English translations. Therefore, our beliefs about any doctrinal and practical issues are shaped by what God says in His Word.
We are happy to discuss specific questions you have, either in person or through email.
Our pastor is always happy to answer questions you may have about our church and doctrine, share with you the good news of salvation, or pray with you. You can reach him easily through phone call, text, email, or visit him during his office hours (daily 9am - 5pm). His office is accessible from the parking lot behind the church.
